Tenets of Theater Education

  • Be prepared for class.

  • Be open-minded and willing to try new things.

  • This is NOT a safe space- feel free to experiment!

  • Ask WHY.

  • Theater is not created or performed in a void. In order to be successful in theater, you need to have a solid core education.

  • Theater skills are LIFE skills. You do not need to take theater only to become a professional.

  • Theater ≠ acting. A good theater education involves learning about all theater professions.

  • If you want to create something new, you need to learn what has come before you and what is being created around you.

  • Students should see as many shows as possible.

  • Use your resources wisely.

  • Ask for help.

  • Always tell the truth.

  • Practice patience, mindfulness and respect.
